SeaSEC Officially Launched in The Hague on December 7, 2023
A bold international partnership was unveiled at Campus@Sea in The Hague, where the Netherlands joined forces with Denmark, Germany, Finland, Norway, and Sweden to protect vital undersea infrastructure. SeaSEC—a cutting-edge innovation hub—aims to secure pipelines, cables, and offshore wind platforms beneath the Northern seas.
SeaSEC’s mission? To revolutionize how governments monitor and defend seabed infrastructure, tackling unique challenges like depths of up to 30 meters. With groundbreaking technologies, the initiative will safeguard assets like data-carrying internet cables, energy pipelines, and wind farms that power the future.
Building a Virtual Seabed Map
SeaSEC researchers will leverage a vast pool of data from military and civilian databases, responsibly creating a 3D virtual map of the seabed. This innovative tool will identify potential threats instantly, setting new standards in maritime security.
A Testing Ground for Tomorrow’s Tech
SeaSEC includes a 10×10 nautical mile testing area where futuristic uncrewed surface vessels, autonomous capabilities and other advanced equipment can be trialed.
Launched as part of the Northern Naval Capability Cooperation (NNCC) initiative, SeaSEC symbolizes a transformative leap in maritime technology. With plans for expansions in Sweden and Germany, SeaSEC is set to redefine undersea infrastructure security.
