The North Sea and Baltic Sea are among the busiest sea areas in the world and contain important assets for generation and transportation of energy and telecom. With sabotage and espionage becoming a daily reality, protecting infrastructure in and undersea is critical for our societies. The Blueshield consortium brings together all capabilities needed for real time situational awareness on our seas.
Blueshield integrates high tech real time data feeds from a wide range of sensors (radar, sonar, acoustics, video) below and above sea level and other data streams, we are able to create a real time threat detection system covering both areas as also specific assets. Moreover, by making use of unmanned surface vehicles and subsurface vehicles we are able to respond quickly to increase awareness based on suspect events and objects.
In the data integration platform we do both real time and historical analysis and track suspect movements. In our real time applications we offer insight both via standard GIS interfaces as also immersive experiences that allow collaboration in a share data environment.
Together Esri Nederland, ELAC, ASN, XRF, Lobster, Nautrik and League Geophysics form a strong European consortium showcasing how integrating a wide range of high tech real time data feeds and analysis help to protect our societies from sabotage and espionange.

Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) protects critical underwater infrastructure through cutting-edge Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and fibre-based sensors. The OptoDAS interrogator provides 150+ km range and high SNR. ASN cable threat monitoring software tracks seabed interference (anchors, trawlers) from 2-3 km away from cables as well as surface vessels (10+ km)."
